Demolition and New Town Hall on Salisbury Street in Pittsboro

You heard it here first…

Demolition began this week on Salisbury Street in Pittsboro.

Here are demolition crews tearing the building down on Friday, February 22, 2019:

For years, this property has been used for parking for downtown shops and visitors of The City Tap or Postal Fish Company while the building itself was used for boat storage. Long ago, the building was a PTA Thrift Store and a Piggly Wiggly prior to that (not to be confused with the other, more recently closed, Piggly Wiggly).

The New Pittsboro Town Hall

As residents from Raleigh, Cary and Chapel Hill flock to Pittsboro, the town is struggling to keep up with demand. The old Town Hall is already over capacity.

The new Pittsboro Town Hall isn’t carved in stone yet but I am told it will be a 40,000sf, 4 story building with a parking garage.

Will people be able to park here?

Hopefully people visiting Pittsboro will still be able to park here to visit downtown shops. If you know how the parking situation will work, please feel free to comment below.
